Design and Surveying
In February 2015, the board approved creating the in-house design group. The purpose of the group is to provide a central location to handle all design aspects of projects which are funded through the Local Options Sales Tax. LOST provides funding for the majority of projects the county is able to initiate every year.
The primary function of the design group is to contract and manage design with A&E firms while also providing in-house design services to all departments within the county. If you would like to learn about the LOST projects in design, be sure to click the LOST Design link on the page.
When projects are completed through design, the project transitions to the Engineering Department for construction. In addition, all other projects funded by other sources like FDOT LAP and other grants are handled through the Engineering Department. If you have questions related to projects under construction or in that are funded by other sources, please see the Engineering Department page.
The Survey Division provides the county with much-needed flexibility for many of its departments. In addition, the division has upgraded all of its equipment to the newest technology in order to maximize its resources. The survey team works very closely with the new design team to assist in the data gathering phase to prepare for design. The Survey Division also handles county right of way/easement staking, bathymetric surveys, project layout, plat review (Development Review Committee), provides assistance to the Real Estate Division and more.
