Mission Statement


The Escambia County Development Services Department is comprised of three divisions: Development Review, Planning and Zoning and Geographic Information Systems, or GIS. The department provides educational opportunities to the public and business community by hosting numerous workshops and meetings throughout the community, providing information and answering questions for citizens, contractors and developers regarding the many projects, tasks and assignments for which the department is responsible.

Geographic Information Systems Statistics

  • 51 general GIS website requests
    • 344 letters regarding addresses/verification of maps or data findings
    • 1,139 structure addresses (through addressing/subdivision processes)
    • 11 streets (added to GIS and processed via petition and/or subdivision plat and named by the BCC)
    • 15  intergovernmental flood information requests (including FEMA, city of Pensacola and the Santa Rosa Island Authority)
    • More than 30,000 DoR communications address verification (four table updates) locations verified
    • 783 Phone in Real Estate Disclosure AIPD and noise-related requests (average of three per day)
    • More than 800 maps created, printed or provided electronically for outside agencies and boards working with the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners (average of six per month)
    • 20 meetings/consultations/advisements to organizations attempting to implement their own spatial data program (high schools, volunteer organizations, economic, environmental/hazard and recreational agencies)
    • More than 80 hazard/disaster recovery and damage assessments, including two tornado maps
  • Assets added in GIS and Lucity databases:   
    • 17 stormwater ponds
    • 3,045 stormwater structures
    • 588 stormwater conduits (e.g., pipes, ditches)
    • 6 county facilities
    • 279 street segments
